Melwood Cutlery got his first guitar at the age of ten. Singing came naturally, so he taught himself to play guitar, then hit the church basement/high school circuit until the bars would let him in. He went on the road in his late teens, and travelled across Canada, Texas and California, all the while writing and performing. This self-taught, musician has delighted audiences from Dawson City, Yukon to Austin, Texas with his wit and mischievous sense of humour, as well as his clever lyrics that can range from tongue-in-cheek and provocative, to sincere and romantic. His songwriting ability ranges widely from ballads and lullabys to country, blues and rock. Melwood
has
performed across Canada with some exposure and airplay in the U.S. and
Europe.
He has been on bills with Jane Siberry, Loreena McKennitt, Ron
Sexsmith,
David Lindley and the legendary Steve Goodman to name a few. Buy CDs: CDBABY or Festival
